Week 2

Week 2
In this weeks workshop we looked at e-portfolios, creating a pamphlet  and also copyright issues.

We created a pamphlet using the software called publisher. I think it is a very good exercise for kids of all ages. I made a pamphlet for vacation spot like Tasmania. While I was doing this, I was surprised that I  learned a lot of things about Tasmania which I didn't know. Hence I realized how we learn through publisher.I found the coping and pasting a bit messy but I think once the students get used to it, that wont be a problem. It will also help student get a visual image of what they are learning and improve on their thinking and also their motor skills. It can help your creativity as it helps them think and create new ideas. It makes education relaxed and informal, hence students enjoy their education. The best part is that its not that complicated and even the less computer friendly person can do it.

E-Portfolio

This week we learned about the software publisher. It was only an introduction and I found it a really creative lesson. I realized this software was similar to power point which I am used to. I wanted to create a portfolio and I have been really impressed with the course as it will help me make one and also being part of the assessment. In today's workshop we made a portfolio using publisher. From feedback's from tutors and comments form peers I am confident that I will be able to make a good portfolio. I think its important for students to create one as they can appreciate their efforts and also can compare it later in their life. This will help them see how far their portfolios have improved and this will give them an inspiration to learn and better their portfolios.

Week 1

Week 1

I found the unit, technologies across the curriculum really interesting and different from the other units in the course.. Before the first workshop I  had very little clue about blogs  as I never had used one before. I think blog is a very fun and interactive way of learning for students.Using a blog we don't have to worry about time and place. Hence we can work on it anywhere and not just in the class.  Parents and teachers can look at the student's work and see how they are doing. I think the other benefit is the advantage of comparison of work. The students can compare and give feedback on each others profile.Blogs make the students an active participant throughout the course and also improve in their writing and reflection skills.

The inspiration program found to be a really fun way of learning. It will be very good visual way of learning different concepts. I think it works with all the subjects across the curriculum.I think it will help improve  writing, reading and thinking skills. It will be suitable for students from grade 1-6. The first image shows the different music instruments. This exercise will help students to learn about the music instruments and more importantly the sound of the instruments which I found is really amazing and an advantage of the software. The mind map shows the different ways of learning. This makes the students understand what are the different ways of learning and figure out their strengths in learning. Because its like a map I think it will be easier to learn and understand the concepts. This will improve their cognitive ability as well..
